Alabama. 9 students arrested in fights at Baldwin County

BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Police arrested 9 students this morning after 2 fights broke out at Baldwin County High School, Bay Minette Police Chief Michael Rowland said.

The fights were the result of the same ongoing dispute between two girls, Rowland said. Eight of the students arrested were female.

Two of the students arrested were charted as adults, Jonelle Thomas and Shanita Thomas, both 18 of Bay Minette. The two adults are not related.

The other seven were juveniles and their names were not released, Rowland said.

“We got a call about 8:15 about a fight going on between students, two female students” Rowland said. “When the officers got there, they broke up that fight, but some of the students who had been observing got involved in another fight at the school and officers had to break that up as well.”

Rowland said no one was injured in the fight and no weapons were involved.
