FL. Student accused of disfiguring another student in school fight

Cape Coral High student is facing charges of aggravated battery after disfiguring another student.

Aaron Ladarrell Atkins, 17,of the 800 block of Northeast 7th Avenue, Cape Coral, was arrested Friday by Lee deputies at Cape Coral High School after striking a fellow student in retaliation for an injury he received earlier that week.

A witness reports that the victim and Atkins were walking in opposite directions in the main lobby of the school during class change. After passing each other, Atkins turned around and hit the victim in the head without warning. The victim fell to the floor.

The victim was bleeding from his right ear, and a piece of the ear was removed as a result of the hit from Atkins, according to arrest reports.

The victim was transported to Cape Coral Hospital by Lee County EMS at his mother’s request.

According to deputies, Atkins was accidentally hit in the eye by the victim while playing basketball during P.E. class on Wednesday. As a result, Atkins received several stitches. The victim attempted to apologize but was told by Atkins that there would be payback.
