LA. 10 expelled; 28 suspended after fight at charter school in Baton Rouge

Ten students have been expelled and 28 others have been suspended after a fight at a Baton Rouge charter school.

It happened two weeks ago at Career Academy.

School leaders say an all-out brawl broke out shortly after a food fight. The students involved were sent home while administrators sorted out all of the details.

School principal Melissa Bergeron says when the suspended students return next week, they’ll have to go through a re-entry process.

“They will have to come to school with a parent on their first day back and they will also be required to go through an anger management session with the school counselor before they’re allowed to enter back into the classroom,” said Bergeron.

The principal ads she wants feedback from parents. They can voice their concerns at a meeting Thursday at the Louisiana Resource Center for Education at 4:30 p.m.
