TX. Fight on HISD Campus. Second incident in 10 days. See Video

A school fight caught on cell phone video and now broadcast across the internet via Facebook has prompted a response from the Houston Independent School District.

The school district confirmed to Local 2, Friday, that the fight took place at Furr High School Sept. 11.

A man who posted the video to Local 2’s Facebook page believes the incident is more properly labeled as an attack.

“No matter what the situation is somebody should have helped this kid, you can tell from his face he looks scared,” Eric Garcia, a Furr High School graduate, said.

The video shows one student hitting another student in the head with a keyboard. A second aggressor kicks the victim while he is on the floor. The fight lasts for about 30 seconds and ends with the victim on the floor holding his face.

The setting for the fight is a classroom and other students can be heard talking in the background. Nobody intervenes, and no teacher appears to be present.

Garcia did not film the incident, but posted it on Local 2’s Facebook page he said to draw attention to the injustice of the act.

The motive behind the attack is unclear. But Garcia and others online speculate that race played a role.

The attackers appear to be African-American. The victim appears to be Hispanic.
