WI. School fight that led to gunshot, lockdown at Horlick High School

Racine’s Horlick High School was on lockdown Friday morning. Someone fired a gun during a big fight near the school, and it was caught on video.

Video posted on YouTube shows the chaos. There are teens punching each other, others getting knocked to the ground. And then, a single shot rings out.

Horlick senior Devontae Cobbins was outside by the tennis courts when he saw the fight and walked over.

“It was a big fight. It wasn’t just groups,” explains Cobbins. “There were girls swinging with guys – all kinds of stuff. And then when the police came, everybody ran away.”

Horlick High School was placed on lockdown, and students were let out around 11 a.m. Police say there were reports of up to 200 people involved.

Officials say fights like this are out of the ordinary.

Students tell a different story: “There are fights every day. Yesterday there were like 5 fights,” notes Cobbins.
