Connecticut: School Fight

Two Newtown High School students were charged with breach of peace after they began fighting with one another and a third student in the hallway at around 3 p.m., Thursday, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was fighting with a younger student when a third student entered the mix, picked up a field hockey stick off of the floor and threatened to strike the younger student, police said.

The student who picked up the stick and the 17-year-old were charged with breach of peace and released on a written promise to appear Oct. 4 in state Superior Court in Danbury. Police said the third student was not arrested because he appeared to have been trying to defend himself.

Police did not identify the students because they were under the age of 18. The police news release did not indicate whether the students were injured.
A comment from a reader did indicate that there were injuries:

I know personally that the 17yr old was treated at the emergency room and has about $10,000 worth of mouth injuries .
