Maryland. 10 students taken to hospital after pepper spray used to break up fight

BALTIMORE – Baltimore County Police and Fire Department personnel are at Overlea High School this morning after a fight between two students was broken up by school resource officers who used pepper spray sending a total of ten students to the hospital for treatment.

According to police, two male students were fighting in the school cafeteria at about 7:40 a.m. when they had to be broken-up by a school resource officer who used pepper spray.  Both students have been arrested.

One of the two students in the fight was taken to Franklin Square Hospital for treatment of a broken finger and symptoms from the pepper spray.

The second student involved in the fight has been taken to a local police precinct.

Fire Department personnel are on the scene assessing whether any other students were affected by the fight or the pepper spray.

According to police, the school has three full time school resource officers
